On Friday, through video conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate and inaugurate railway projects worth more than Rs 5,800 crore in West Bengal.
Modi, who lost his mother this morning, was supposed to be in attendance for the occasion kicking off the state’s infrastructure and connectivity initiatives.
The Howrah-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express and the Joka-Esplanade Metro Project’s (Purple Line) Joka-Taratala segment were both officially opened as part of these projects.
The 6.5 km, six-station segment between Joka and Taratala was built for more than Rs 2,475 crore.
The opening of this project will be extremely beneficial to travellers in Kolkata’s southern neighbourhoods, including Sarsuna, Dakghar, Muchipara, and South 24 Parganas.
