PM Modi Inaugurates ₹24,000 Cr Projects in Dahod Gujarat

In Dahod, Gujarat, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the cornerstone and officially opened many development projects totaling more than Rs 24,000 crore. The projects include a number of Gujarati government initiatives as well as rail projects. Additionally, he signaled the end of the Vande Bharat Express between Veraval and Ahmedabad, as well as the Valsad and Dahod stations.

Prime Minister inaugurated the Locomotive Manufacturing plant of the Indian Railways in Dahod. This plant will produce electric locomotives of 9000 HP for domestic purposes and for export. He also flagged off the first electric locomotive manufactured from the plant. The locomotives will help in increasing freight loading capacity of Indian Railways. These locomotives will be equipped with regenerative braking systems, and are being designed to reduce energy consumption, which contributes to environmental sustainability.

In addition to the locomotive plant, PM Modi inaugurated several key railway projects, including the electrified Sabarmati-Botad rail section, achieving 100% railway route electrification in Gujarat. Major Railway Initiatives :-

Inauguration of 9,000 HP Electric Locomotive Plant

A highlight of the event was the inauguration of a state-of-the-art electric locomotive manufacturing plant in Dahod. Developed in collaboration with Siemens, this facility is set to produce 1,200 high-powered 9,000-horsepower electric locomotives. The project is a major step in India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and is expected to generate substantial employment opportunities, both directly and indirectly, in the region.

Electrification of Sabarmati-Botad Rail Section

PM Modi inaugurated the electrified Sabarmati-Botad rail section, achieving 100% railway route electrification in Gujarat. This move is expected to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of rail transport in the state.

Launch of Vande Bharat Express

The Prime Minister also flagged off the Ahmedabad-Veraval Vande Bharat Express, further enhancing connectivity in the state and providing faster, more comfortable travel options for passengers.

Water Supply Projects

In addition to railway projects, PM Modi inaugurated four group water supply schemes worth ₹181 crore. These schemes aim to provide clean drinking water to a population of 4.62 lakh across 193 villages and one city in the Mahisagar and Dahod districts. The projects are expected to ensure a daily supply of 100 liters per capita, significantly improving the quality of life in these regions.
