The second day of PM Modi’s visit will begin with the opening of Phase 1 of Ahmedabad’s Modi Shaikshanik Sankul, an educational complex for underprivileged pupils that strives to offer resources for all-around student development.

In Amod, a town in the Bharuch district, PM Modi will also perform the official opening and lay the cornerstone for projects totaling more than 8,000 crore.
In October 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a significant visit to Gujarat, during which he declared Modhera as India’s first 24×7 solar-powered village and inaugurated multiple developmental projects in Bharuch and Jamnagar.

Modhera: India’s First Solar-Powered Village

On October 9, 2022, Prime Minister Modi announced that Modhera, located in Gujarat’s Mehsana district, had become the nation’s first village to be powered entirely by solar energy around the clock. This milestone was achieved through the installation of a ground-mounted solar power plant and over 1,300 rooftop solar systems on residential and government buildings. These installations are connected to a battery energy storage system, ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the village. Modhera, renowned for its ancient Sun Temple, now stands as a testament to sustainable energy solutions, blending historical significance with modern advancements.

Developmental Projects in Bharuch

The following day, October 10, 2022, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone and dedicated various projects worth over ₹8,000 crore in Bharuch district. Key initiatives include:

  • Bulk Drug Park at Jambusar: This facility aims to bolster the pharmaceutical industry by reducing dependence on imports and promoting local manufacturing of bulk drugs.
  • Deep Sea Pipeline Project at Dahej: Designed to address the effluent disposal needs of industrial units, this project is expected to enhance the region’s environmental sustainability.
  • Ankleshwar Airport (Phase 1): The development of this airport is set to improve regional connectivity, facilitating easier movement of people and goods.
  • Multilevel Industrial Sheds at Ankleshwar and Panoli: These infrastructures aim to support small and medium enterprises by providing them with the necessary facilities to operate efficiently.

These projects collectively aim to stimulate economic growth, generate employment opportunities, and enhance infrastructure in the region

Initiatives in Jamnagar

In Jamnagar, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for multiple projects totaling approximately ₹1,450 crore. He highlighted five key resolutions driving Gujarat’s development: Jan Shakti (people’s power), Gyan Shakti (knowledge power), Jal Shakti (water power), Urja Shakti (energy power), and Raksha Shakti (defense power). These initiatives underscore the state’s commitment to holistic growth, focusing on sectors ranging from education and energy to water resources and defense.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Gujarat in October 2022 marked a series of transformative initiatives aimed at sustainable development and infrastructural enhancement. The declaration of Modhera as India’s first fully solar-powered village showcases the potential of renewable energy in rural settings. Simultaneously, the projects launched in Bharuch and Jamnagar are poised to drive economic growth, improve connectivity, and elevate the quality of life for residents, reflecting a comprehensive approach to regional development.
