In Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the groundwork for a number of development projects worth over ₹17,300 crores. Among these projects is the Outer Harbor Container Terminal at V.O. Chidambaranar Port, which will serve as India’s first Green Hydrogen Hub Port and a transshipment hub. The foundation stone for this project was laid recently. Furthermore, the Harit Nauka initiative’s debut of India’s first domestic green hydrogen fuel cell inland canal vessel is a step forward in the direction of sustainable energy solutions. Road developments including four- and two-lane portions of national roads, as well as rail projects like doubling the Vanchi Maniyachchi – Nagercoil rail line, further improve connectivity and socioeconomic progress in the area.
