NSL Sets New Production Records, Reaches Rated Capacity

India’s NMDC Steel Limited (NSL), the country’s most modern steel plant, has achieved three record-breaking production milestones. The plant reached its rated capacity, showcasing its rapid scale-up and potential to lead the next generation of steel manufacturing in India. At the Raw Material Handling System (RMHS), NSL.

Recorded its highest-ever daily basemix production at 23,307 tonnes, and its fastest tippling time of just 2 hours and 35 minutes. The Coke Oven (CO) unit achieved its highest daily pushings with 186 pushings, while the Blast Furnace delivered its highest daily hot metal production of 11,034 tonnes. The Steel Melting Shop (SMS).

Produced 9,342 tonnes of liquid steel, setting a new operational milestone. The Power and Blowing Station (PBS) achieved and exceeded its rated capacity with the Top Recovery Turbine (TRT), generating over 15 MW of power for the first time. Other key units, such as the Sinter Plant, Thin Slab Caster (TSC), and Hot Strip Mill (HSM).

Also demonstrated exceptional performances. NSL’s commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and resilience is reflected in these achievements April 30, 2025 – Hyderabad: NSL (Nava Bharat Steel Limited), one of India’s rapidly growing steel manufacturers, has achieved a major operational milestone by reaching its.

Rated production capacity across all its key units. The company has also set new monthly production records in finished steel, sponge iron, and captive power generation, underlining its robust operational strategy and growing market demand The achievement marks a significant turnaround for NSL, which has been steadily.

Expanding and optimizing its integrated steel plant over the past few years. Located in the mineral-rich region of Telangana, the plant integrates iron ore processing, sponge iron manufacturing, steel melting, rolling, and power generation – providing the company with strong control over quality, efficiency, and costs operations.

In its latest monthly performance report, NSL confirmed that it has reached the full-rated capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) in finished steel production, alongside corresponding outputs in sponge iron and billets. The company also reported record generation from its captive power plant, which uses waste heat recovery from sponge iron kilns and coal-based power units to ensure uninterrupted.

Speaking on the achievement, Mr. Vinay Reddy, Managing Director of NSL, said, “We are proud to announce that NSL has reached its rated production capacity, which is a testament to our engineering excellence, operational discipline, and strong team spirit. Achieving this milestone amidst challenging macroeconomic conditions.

He added that the ramp-up to full capacity was achieved without compromising on environmental or safety standards, thanks to continuous process automation, is a reflection of our strategic investments and unwavering focus on quality and performance predictive maintenance protocols, and stringent compliance measures.

Industry analysts have noted NSL’s operational efficiency and vertical integration as key competitive advantages. By sourcing raw materials in-house and maintaining end-to-end control, the company has managed to shield itself from market volatility in raw material prices and logistics bottlenecks that have impacted many peers.

NSL’s surge in production comes at a time when domestic steel demand is rising, driven by strong activity in infrastructure, construction, and automobile sectors. The company’s expanded output is expected to strengthen its presence in both domestic and export markets. With improved capacity utilization and higher throughput, NSL.

Environmental sustainability remains a core priority for NSL. The plant features a 30 MW captive power unit with a waste heat recovery system (WHRS), significantly reducing carbon emissions. Water conservation initiatives, solid waste recycling, and the use of digital monitoring tools have also been scaled up as part of NSL’s green.
