The Bandra Kurla Complex high speed rail station in Mumbai (Maharashtra) has been designed and is being built by NHSRCL under the C1 package. In the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor, this will be the sole underground stop.
Along with BKC Station, the C1 Package tender also contains a 467-meter cut and cover length and a 66-meter ventilation shaft. The removal of the tunnel boring machine will also be done via this shaft (retrieval shaft).
The station will have 6 platforms, each measuring around 415 metres in length (sufficient to accommodate a 16 coach bullet train). The station will be connected to the highway and the metro. The sole subterranean station along the HSR line between Mumbai and Ahmedabad is at the Bandra Kurla Complex station.
The platform is envisioned to be roughly 24 metres below the surface. Platform, concourse, and service floor are among the three floors. There are two planned entry/exit points, one for easy access to the neighbouring Metro station on Metro Line 2B and the other for the MTNL building. The layout of the station allows for plenty of room for amenities and passenger mobility on the concourse and platform levels. A specific skylight is provided have been made for natural lighting.
Security, ticketing, waiting areas, business class lounges, nurseries, rest rooms, smoking rooms, information kiosks and incidental shopping, public information and announcement systems, CCTV surveillance, etc. are just a few of the amenities planned for passengers at stations. In addition, integration with other forms of transportation such as the metro, buses, cars, and taxis is also anticipated.
