NHAI launches ₹1,100 cr road corridor in Delhi

The building of the road project in Delhi’s trans-Yamuna neighbourhoods, which will be a component of National Highway 709B (NH-709B), between Akshardham (Delhi) and Saharanpur Bypass, has begun by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) (Uttar Pradesh). Delhi’s 14.7 km long, six-lane section, which is being constructed at a cost of 1,100 crore, is scheduled to be finished in December 2024.

Arvind Kumar, the project director for the NHAI, announced that the organisation has begun building the road overbridge near the Akshardham temple, which is over the railway line, and has begun piling work. The corridor will begin at the Akshardham flyover and travel through some of east and north-east Delhi’s most densely inhabited neighbourhoods.

including Geeta Colony, Shastri Park, Khajuri Khas, and Karawal Nagar. The 155-kilometer national highway that connects Akshardham to Saharanpur Bypass in Uttar Pradesh includes the access-controlled corridor in Delhi. 6.78 km of the 14.7 km route in Delhi, from Geeta Colony to the CRPF base in Wazirabad, would be elevated. To ensure smooth vehicular traffic along the route, three light vehicle underpasses will also be built.
