NHAI Completes More than ₹16,000 Cr in InvIT Monetization

The NHAI’s National Highways Infra Trust (NHIT) was able to generate nearly ₹16,000 crore for 889 kilometers of National Highway sections through the ‘InvIT Round-3’. This is one of the biggest deals in the history of the Indian road industry, as well as the largest monetization by NHAI. With loans from Indian lenders totaling over ₹9,000 crore and unit capital of about ₹7,272 crore, the fundraising process came to a close in February 2024.

The fundraising involved both domestic and foreign investors, such as banks, mutual funds, insurance firms, and pension funds. Over the course of three rounds, NHIT has successfully monetized ₹26,125 crore, covering fifteen operational toll roads located across nine states.

NHIT, which was founded in 2021 to assist with the National Monetization Pipeline, has been essential in directing financial resources toward the growth of India’s road industry. Officials from NHAI applaud NHIT’s involvement in PPP and its contribution to the growth of infrastructure. Since November 2021, NHIT has raised almost ₹12,000 crore in prior fundraising rounds.
