MSRDC expedites ₹26,000-cr RR project in Pune

The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has begun laying the foundation for the proposed Pune East Ring Road project with an investment of Rs 26,000 crore. The proposed 103-kilometer East Ring Road will start from the Urse Toll Plaza on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway, pass through the villages of Maval, Khed, Haveli, Daund, Purandar tehsils, and then merge with the Mumbai-Bangalore Expressway on Bhor tehsil.

It will reduce traffic congestion restricted by the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad municipal companies, and the state government has allocated targeted funding for large road projects. With strong resistance from the agricultural community.

The land has also been surveyed in Chimbali, Garade, Sonori, Perne, Urse, Tulapur, Lonikand, Gavadewadi, and this task is currently being carried out in the village of Khalumbre. MSRDC needs to obtain 859.88 hectares of land for the project in 46 villages in 5 tehsil, and the agency is currently signing agreements with farmers who have agreed to hand over the land.
