In Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, officially opened and placed the foundation stone for 15 National Highway projects and 1 Ropeway project, totaling ₹4,000 crore.
Theog bypass on Devrighat-Premghat, a 196-meter-long bridge on the Kalruhi stretch, and the 225-meter-long Dhaliyara bridge on National Highway 503 in the Kangra district were a few of the projects that were officially launched. In addition, foundation stones were placed for a number of road building projects, such as a 2-kilometer bridge connecting Mohal in Kullu to the well-known Bijli Mahadev Temple and a 4-lane missing link and cable stay bridge on National Highway 503A up to Birhu-Lathiani.
Notable projects also include building a 500 m long man-made tunnel on National Highway 5 and a ropeway and slope protection measures to prevent landslides on the Parwanoo-Solan portion of National Highway 22.
Significantly shorter travel times are anticipated as a result of these enhancements, which should also improve connectivity to important locations including Tauni Devi, Awahdevi, Sarkaghat, and Dharampur as well as logistics and health service accessibility to AIIMS Bilaspur and Darlaghat Cement Factory.
Moreover, the ropeway to the Bijli Mahadev pilgrimage site will significantly reduce travel time from two hours thirty minutes to about seven minutes, benefiting about 36,000 pilgrims daily. The cable-stayed bridge on Govind Sagar Lake will shorten the distance from Birhu to Lathiani, Hamirpur to Una by 21 km.
In order to solve the problem of landslides in the area, slope protection and tunnel construction projects are intended to provide safer and more convenient travel. All things considered, these highway enhancements should enhance traffic on difficult, steep roadways.
