The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari revealed that his ministry will construct six bypasses between Bengaluru and Mysuru national highway, as a part of the current expressway project to relieve traffic congestion at several portions along the national highway. For a total of 51 km, the bypasses on the line will be of assistance to drivers around Bidadi, Ramanagaram, Channarayapatna, Maddur, Mandya, and Srirangapatna. The current journey time of three hours would be cut in half to 90 minutes if the Bengaluru–Mysuru expressway project is finished. The project is being implemented in two packages, the first of which runs from Panchamukhi Temple Junction in Bengaluru’s south zone and finishes near Nidgatta, and the second of which runs from Nidgatta to Mysuru.
