Under the Bharatmala Pariyojana, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has expedited the building of the six-lane NH-140 from Chittoor to Mallavaram in Andhra Pradesh. The road-building agency is on a quest to make the area an infrastructure hub that meets global standards 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The project connects significant towns in the Chittoor District, such as Chittoor and Tirupati, via Kanipakam, a sacred site. It runs from Kukkalapalli to Mallavaram, including two bypasses at Kasipentla and Kanipakam, 14 grade separators, six large bridges, and fifteen smaller bridges in between. After it is completed, the region will undergo a dramatic transition as a result of improved connectivity, which will stimulate commercial activity and religious tourism.
