MoRTH expedites ₹31,000 cr Pune-Bengaluru Road corridor

The greenfield road corridor between Pune and Bengaluru, involving an investment of about $31,000 crore, has been expedited by MoRTH. When finished, it will cut the distance between these two cities in half—from 840 km to 745 km—and the time it takes to travel between them by four to five hours. It will be built as part of the Bharatmala Pariyojna and will be the state’s first national highway with two five-kilometer airstrips for IAF fighters to take off and land on in case of an emergency. Additionally, there will be hotels by the side of the road, parks for kids to play in, and separate restrooms for drivers. The cars will be able to travel at a speed of 120 km/h. The road will have four, six, and eight layers with lush vegetation.
