MoRTH expedites ₹12,500 cr Bengaluru–Chennai expressway

The phased construction of the 12,500 crore Bengaluru-Chennai expressway has been accelerated by the Union Transport Ministry. Six of the ten construction packages are actively under construction at the moment. The road in Tamil Nadu is 106 km long, and construction has started on three packages. The final package, which spans 12 km and is split in half in Andhra Pradesh, has also been given a prize. The greenfield fully access-controlled signal-free elevated expressway is 262 km long and passes through Tamil Nadu (106 km), Andhra Pradesh (85 km), and Karnataka (71 km). It will be finished in two years.

The expressway is being built in Tamil Nadu’s Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Vellore, and Ranipet districts as part of the National Highways Development Program. When it is finished, it will enable drivers to travel from Chennai to Bengaluru in less than three hours.
