MoRTH commits ₹3 lakh cr road infra in Telangana

In the 10-year period between 2014 and 2024, the Union Transport Minister has committed to spending Rs 3 lakh crore on the development of high-quality national highway infrastructure in Telangana. He laid the cornerstones for 12 national highway projects totaling 354 kilometres and costing Rs 7,853 crore. With the exception of Peddapalli, Telangana’s 33 districts are connected by a network of National Highways. The sole district will be added to the network soon.

Telangana’s national highway network has nearly doubled in the last eight years, reaching 4,996 kilometres from 2511 kilometres in 2014. Traffic arriving in southern India from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will first travel to Mumbai, then to Pune, and then to Solapur or Kolhapur. With the completion of the Delhi-Mumbai highway, the travel time between Delhi and Mumbai has been reduced to 12 hours, which will be more advantageous in terms of logistics.
