The Union transport ministry has approved a 380-kilometer road corridor connecting Ghaziabad and Kanpur, two industrial hubs. The 380-kilometer Greenfield Economic Corridor, which runs through nine west UP districts, aims to reduce travel time between the two cities from six hours to three hours. The project is expected to be finished in 2025. The corridor will pass through nine districts: Ghaziabad, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Kasganj, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Unnao, and Kanpur, according to the plan. Commuters travelling on the Yamuna Expressway currently take around six hours, while those travelling on NH-9 take at least eight hours. A survey to identify land for the project is currently underway, and work on the DPR has also begun. According to the plan, the four-lane corridor will be expanded to six lanes at culverts and underpasses, with land set aside for future expansion to eight lanes. According to an official spokesperson, the corridor will benefit industries by reducing travel time and cost and bringing economic benefits.
