42 roads totaling 118.756 km have been approved by the Ministry of Rural Development as part of the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) in order to improve rural connectivity and economic growth in the North-East. An estimated ₹114.32 crore would be invested in Tripura as part of this effort.
This historic undertaking will:
- Improve access to essential services like healthcare, education, and markets.
- Foster economic development, trade, and commerce in the region.
- Enhance rural connectivity, linking remote villages with urban centers.
- Create employment opportunities and stimulate local economies.
- Align with the government’s vision of a prosperous Northeast and a developed India (Viksit Bharat).
- Provide all-weather road connectivity to 47 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) habitations
- Improve the socio-economic conditions of PVTGs in the state.
Tripura is expected to undergo a significant transformation as a result of the PM-JANMAN program, which will strengthen the government’s commitment to inclusive development while fostering the growth and prosperity of tribal groups.
