MEIL Wins ₹12,800 Cr Order for Kaiga Nuclear Reactors

Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Ltd (MEIL) secured a ₹12,800-crore contract from NPCIL for two 700 MW nuclear reactors in Karnataka, marking the first private sector contract in India. Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL) has formally received a ₹12,800 crore engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract from the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) to construct two 700 megawatt electric (MWe) nuclear reactors—Kaiga Units 5 and 6—in Karnataka.

This contract marks MEIL’s entry into the nuclear energy sector and is the largest-ever order placed by NPCIL The order was officially handed over at NPCIL’s Mumbai headquarters to Ch. P.
