Maharashtra govt approves ₹350-cr for Shirdi airport expansion

The Maharashtra government has approved Rs 350 crore for the expansion of the Shirdi airport. The airport, which is currently handling around 1.6 lakh passengers per annum, will be expanded to handle 5 lakh passengers per annum. The expansion will include the construction of a new terminal building, a new runway and an air traffic control tower. The work is expected to be completed by 2021.

The Maharashtra government has given the Shirdi airport expansion a 350 crore investment green light. The airport’s management company, Maharashtra Airport Development Company Limited (MADC), projects that the extension would be finished by May of next year. Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister, recently presided over a meeting on the expansion and gave the go-ahead for all procedures to be finished right away.

The project for the expansion will soon be awarded as the design for the new terminal building is being finalised. The full expansion is anticipated to be finished in around 18 months.
