The government of Maharashtra has accelerated construction on the $1.08 trillion Ahmedabad-Mumbai High Speed Rail Project. The various departments have been told by the state’s chief minister to move rapidly to obtain the required permissions and finish the land purchase procedure for the bullet train project by the end of this month.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) was instructed to turn over the 4.8 hectares of land available for the subterranean station by September 30 after he evaluated the progress of the 508.17 km bullet train project. Additionally, he requested that land acquisition, compensation, and transfer concerns be resolved by the same date by the district collectors of Thane and Palghar.
The instructions from the state’s chief minister are crucial because possession of over 159.07 hectares of land from the Palghar district is still pending. The bullet train project requires a total of 1396 hectares of land from Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. He urged that local authorities should make use of the Centre’s proactive role in approving various infrastructure projects by conducting timely implementations and regular follow-ups. In addition to this, he assessed the progress of a number of other transportation infrastructure projects, including the Pune-Nashik Semi High-Speed Rail Project, which was approved by the NITI Aayog in April 2022, as well as the railway, metro, and multi-modal corridor.
