L&T in discussions to build green hydrogen facilities with steel and cement companies

A number of businesses are in discussions with Larsen & Toubro (L&T), which just opened its first green hydrogen plant at its facility in Gujarat.

By adopting green hydrogen as a key component of its clean fuel adoption strategy, L&T intends to achieve water neutrality by 2035 and carbon neutrality by 2040 as part of its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals.

The company is negotiating with important refineries in the public and commercial sectors to supply green hydrogen. According to a senior corporate executive, the corporation is also in contact with a dozen businesses that operate in the steel and cement industries as well as refineries about establishing comparable hydrogen plants.

This project, which began around seven months ago, was carried out extremely quickly. The company wants to utilise this first green hydrogen factory in India as a model since it has cutting-edge technology, an automated system, and is moving in the right direction.
