Komatsu India Introduces Its Bio-Fuel Compatible Mining Models To India

Komatsu India Private Limited (KIPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Komatsu Ltd (Komatsu), Japan, and a manufacturer of Construction and Mining Equipment, has secured orders for large-scale mining equipment from a major mining customer in India, in collaboration with its distribution partner Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) (Customer). Komatsu’s high-quality products and L&T’s dependable product-support capabilities paved the way for this large deal.

Over 80 Komatsu mining equipment units were ordered, including dump trucks, hydraulic excavators, bull dozers, motor graders, wheel loaders, and wheel dozers. The order includes equipment supply as well as a Full Maintenance Contract (FMC) for up to ten years of equipment operation. Starting in May 2022, the equipment will be deployed at the customer’s jobsite.

Komatsu celebrated its 100th anniversary last year, and this remarkable achievement was made possible only by staying true to our mission of “Creating Value” through manufacturing and technological innovation to enable a sustainable future for people, business, and the environment. Mr Hiroyuki Ogawa, President of Komatsu, launched the new three-year mid-term management plan “DANTOTSU Value – Together, to ‘The Next’ for sustainable growth” on the occasion of Komatsu’s 100th anniversary celebration.

Mr Yasunori Fujii, Managing Director of KIPL, said of the largest order from the customer, “We are delighted to receive this prestigious order for the complete set of Komatsu mining equipment from the customer.” This order solidifies our relationship, which began with th

Mr Fujii also reaffirmed Komatsu’s commitment to the environment and societal cause, stating that the company is constantly incorporating new technologies into the Indian market to improve workplace efficiency and reduce environmental impact. Komatsu has now introduced a mining equipment fleet that is biofuel compatible, in keeping with this ethos (Biodiesel fuel blends up to B20 confirming to ASTM D7467). At a glittering ceremony held at KIPL factory in Oragadam, Tamil Nadu, the first set of HD785-7 dump trucks compatible with Biofuel was recently handed over to the customer. This marks the beginning of a new era in the Indian mining equipment industry, one that has the potential to significantly reduce carbon emissions.

Although Komatsu has Bio-fuel compatible mining equipment, it is also critical that remote mining jobsites have a consistent supply of the desired quality of fuel. Komatsu’s new initiatives are expected to complement the government’s push to accelerate the use of alternative fuels.

Mr Arvind K. Garg, Executive Vice President and Head, L&T Construction & Mining Machinery, has expressed his gratitude to the customer for entrusting L&T with the fleet of Komatsu Mining Equipment and engaging in long-term product support contracts. “L&T has been associated with Komatsu for more than two decades,” Mr Garg said. We share a common philosophy of creating value for our valued customers as partners. The introduction of biofuel compatible mining equipment is a big step in the right direction. Thanks to the government’s focus on infrastructure, the Indian mining industry is expanding at a healthy rate. As a responsible stakeholder, it is therefore critical to continue introducing such cutting-edge and environmentally friendly technologies in India. We are committed to serving society through such innovative offerings, along with Komatsu and our valued customers.”

Following the introduction of Bio-fuel compatible Mining Equipment, KIPL is now planning to introduce and demonstrate its range of Bio-fuel compatible Construction Equipment at South Asia’s largest exhibition, EXCON, which will take place at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre between May 17th and 21st, 2022.

Komatsu will strive to create new value in order to advance steadily to the next stage in the future workplace and pass on a sustainable future to future generations.
