Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) has requested expressions of interest (EoI) for the massive project that would be built in the city’s Kakkanad district, accelerating the process of creating Bliss City. A public-private partnership (PPP) based on the Design Build Finance Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) model is how KMRL intends to carry out the project.
On a 31.43 acre site in Kunnumpuram, Kakkanad, the project consists of IT parks, a medical city, an entertainment hub, educational hubs, and centres for foreign universities. 17.43 acres of the entire acreage have already been given to KMRL, and the government plans to distribute the final 14 acres soon. The project aims to provide KMRL with a different source of income. The project would be developed by the chosen private investor on a DBFOT basis and transferred to KMRL after 30 years. Kochi Metro is hoping that reputable players from around the world will spend between 8,000 and 9,000 crore in the Bliss City.
