Karnataka to Enhance Rural Connectivity with 18 New Roads & 2 Bridges

Under the PM-JANMAN initiative, the Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned the building of 18 roads and 2 bridges in an effort to improve rural connectivity and accelerate economic growth in Karnataka. The 23.766 km of these projects indicate an anticipated ₹25.1796 crore investment.

The objective of this effort is to bridge the gap between remote villages and urban centers and considerably improve the socio-economic situations of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) by facilitating improved connections in rural regions.

The upgraded infrastructure will promote trade, commerce, and economic growth, in addition to improving access to markets, healthcare, and education. It is also anticipated to boost local economies and provide job opportunities, in line with the government’s goal of an advanced and prosperous India (Viksit Bharat).

Karnataka to Enhance Rural Connectivity with 18 New Roads & 2 Bridges

Bengaluru, Karnataka – The Karnataka government has announced the construction of 18 new roads and two bridges to improve rural connectivity and boost economic development in remote areas. These infrastructure projects aim to provide better transportation facilities, enhance access to essential services, and support agricultural and commercial activities in the state’s rural regions.

The initiative is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to strengthen rural infrastructure and align with national programs such as the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). The new roads will cover key rural and semi-urban areas, ensuring smoother transportation of goods and better access to schools, hospitals, and markets. The two bridges will address long-standing connectivity issues in flood-prone and geographically challenging regions.

Speaking about the initiative, a senior state official highlighted the government’s commitment to bridging the urban-rural divide. “Better roads lead to better opportunities. These projects will facilitate economic growth, improve livelihoods, and ensure that rural Karnataka remains well-connected to the mainstream economy,” he stated.

Farmers and small-scale industries in the region are expected to benefit significantly from these developments, as improved roads will reduce travel time and transportation costs. The initiative also supports the Karnataka government’s broader vision of strengthening rural infrastructure to attract investments and create job opportunities.

The government has allocated substantial funds for the timely execution of these projects, with work expected to begin in the coming months. The roads and bridges will be built using high-quality materials to ensure durability and sustainability. Officials have also emphasized the use of eco-friendly construction techniques wherever possible to minimize environmental impact.

Local communities have welcomed the announcement, expressing hope that the improved connectivity will lead to better access to healthcare, education, and employment opportunities. Villagers who have long struggled with poor roads and unreliable transportation believe these projects will transform their daily lives.

The initiative aligns with Karnataka’s long-term infrastructure strategy, which focuses on boosting rural development, reducing regional disparities, and enhancing the quality of life for citizens. The government has assured that regular monitoring will be conducted to ensure timely completion and adherence to quality standards.

With these 18 new roads and two bridges, Karnataka is set to make significant progress in improving rural connectivity, fostering economic growth, and enhancing the overall well-being of its rural population.
