K-Tec Partners with SSAB for Fossil-Free Steel in Earthmoving Products

Leading heavy-duty earth scraper manufacturer K-Tec and SSAB have reached an agreement for K-Tec to be the first OEM to test SSAB’s Fossil-freeTM️ steel in its earthmoving product line.

K-Tec, a well-known producer of heavy-duty earth scrapers, and SSAB have reached an agreement for K-Tec to be the first OEM in its earthmoving product line to test SSAB’s Fossil-freeTM️ steel. By concentrating on the selection of sustainable materials, K-Tec, a member of the K.A. Group, is making a substantial advancement toward the elimination of carbon emissions.

K-Tec will be able to receive pilot deliveries of SSAB Fossil-freeTM⃏ steel under the terms of this agreement. This steel is made with almost no carbon dioxide emissions during the steelmaking process. The first applications for this cutting-edge steel will be in K-Tec’s main mining and construction products. With this agreement, K-Tec is demonstrating its dedication to lowering its carbon footprint and encouraging environmentally friendly practices, which is a significant step towards sustainability in the heavy machinery industry.

K-Tec’s next move to lower emissions and increase sustainability for its clients is this cooperative project. The business already creates, produces, and distributes robust, lightweight earthmoving machinery using SSAB’s performance steel brands, Strenx® and wear steel Hardox®.

Using sturdy, lightweight steel rather than bulky iron allows contractors to move more material, which is a major benefit of K-Tec scrapers. In addition, compared to conventional earthmoving techniques, K-Tec’s high-capacity scrapers enable higher productivity with fewer daily cycles needed, reducing the earthmoving carbon footprint.
