On November 20, 2024, Mr. Arnold Dix, President of the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA), met with Shri R.K. Dhiman, AVSM, VSM, President of TAI, and the TAI Governing Council at the Tunnelling Association of India (TAI) headquarters.
Professor Dix, a world-renowned authority on tunneling and underground engineering, offered insightful commentary on developments worldwide, safety breakthroughs, and approaches to meeting the expanding need for subterranean infrastructure. In order to centralize tunneling operations and promote cooperation, talks discussed setting up a National Tunneling Center and a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) facility in India.
Prof. Dix expressed his admiration for TAI’s efforts to integrate cutting-edge technologies and promote tunneling projects in India, and he affirmed that he would be attending TAI’s World Tunnel Day celebrations on December 4, 2024, in New Delhi.
Prof. Dix also complimented TAI Vice President Mr. R.K. Khali for his noteworthy contributions to the tunneling sector, which were recognized with the ITA Fellow Award.
