Irrigation Department Superintendent Engineer suspended for ‘illegal mining’

Irrigation Department Superintendent Engineer (SE) Rajiv Goel, who is also in charge of the Ferozepur canal division for the Water Resources, Mining, and Geology Department, has been suspended from service with immediate effect.

According to the orders issued today, Goel will be stationed at the water resources department’s Chandigarh headquarters until further orders.

Although the reason for the orders isn’t stated, an official said there were allegations of illegal mining and that a departmental investigation would be launched against him.
