Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, unveiled India’s first electric double-decker air-conditioned bus on Thursday in Mumbai. The first of the company’s recently acquired electric double-decker air-conditioned buses was unveiled by the Mumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST). According to reports, the remainder will be on municipal roads by mid-2023.

The project, according to the Union minister, respects Atmanirbhar Bharat’s mission and offers viable, affordable answers.

The electric bus, which can purportedly carry twice as many seated passengers, was produced by Switch Mobility, Ashok Leyland’s electric vehicle division.
The business has an agreement with BEST for the phased supply of 900 electric buses. The first half of these buses are anticipated to be delivered by March 2023, followed by the second half in March 2024.
