By 2030, according to India’s shipping minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the nation wants to be the world’s leading producer of green ships. The government has set a target for the initial Green Tugs to begin operating in all Major Ports by 2025. These “Green Hybrid Tugs” will have Green Hybrid Propulsion systems, with the intention of implementing non-fossil fuel alternatives like Methanol, Ammonia, and Hydrogen in the future. By 2030, at least 50% of all Tugs are expected to be converted into Green Tugs, which will greatly reduce emissions and contribute towards attaining sustainable development.
