The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) will invest over 95,261 crore in 21 projects, including a project that would connect the state capitals of three northeastern states – Manipur, Mizoram, and Meghalaya – by the end of next year, as well as Nagaland’s capital Kohima by 2026.
Assam’s principal city of Guwahati (near to capital city Dispur), Tripura’s capital Agartala, and Arunachal Pradesh’s Naharlagun (close to capital city Itanagar) are all connected to the rail network, according to CCPRO, NFR Sabyasachi De. A total of 51,787 crore has already been granted with the goal of connecting the other state capitals and increasing line capacity in the region. The construction of new broad gauge railway tracks to connect Imphal and Aizawl is now ongoing.
