In April, India’s power sector supply climbed by 15.6% to 49.7 MT

Due to the high demand for dry fuel from power plants, Coal India Limited (CIL), a state-owned company, announced that coal supply to the power sector increased by 15.6 percent to 49.7 million tonnes (MT) last month. In the coming months, the company intends to increase its dispatches, particularly to power plants.
The announcement comes at a time when many parts of the country are without power.
CIL expects to increase shipments even more in the coming months, particularly to power plants, as productivity improves.
CIL produces more than 80% of the country’s coal and is a major coal supplier to the power industry.
