The Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has proposed to coordinate 18 bridge projects with South Central Railway (SCR), with an investment of Rs 1,230 crore. These projects include 17 new roads under bridges (RuBs) and roads over bridges (RoBs) across the satellite city, including plans to widen the Mettuguda RoB. Of the proposed projects, 13 are located in the north of the city, 3 are located in the south of the city, and 2 are located in the middle of the city.
These projects have been proposed at selected manned level crossings (MLC). MLC will convert to RuB and RoB in stages. As of now, according to the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP), a number of projects have been carried out in some areas of the city, and the newly proposed projects will soon be put into use. The state government has decided to coordinate and build these projects with SCR officials.
The plan is to completely abolish the MLC from the GHMC limits. At the same time, the SCR is also promoting safety measures that need to be followed near the MLC.
