Hitachi Unveils LANDCROS One Excavator Concept at bauma 2025

Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) has unveiled its pioneering excavator concept, LANDCROS One, at bauma Munich 2025. The concept represents a fundamental shift in how machinery interacts with operators, job sites, and the broader construction ecosystem. The concept introduces a “phygital” approach.

integrating physical and digital controls to create an intuitive operator environment. It features four transformative innovation pillars: intelligence that empowers operators, global operations 24/7, flexible operation for every skill level, and adaptive power systems for every jobsite.

The concept’s integrated AI and automation systems handle routine tasks and provide intelligent assistance during complex operations. It also offers three distinct operation modes: manual mode, autonomous mode, and remote mode, enabling full operation from any location 24/7. The concept’s propulsion system is available in three distinct power modes: electric, combustion, or hydrogen.

The partnership between Hitachi and Granstudio demonstrates how Hitachi’s engineering excellence, combined with design expertise, can challenge conventional approaches to construction equipment, resulting in machinery that is more powerful, efficient, intuitive, adaptable, and connected.

At bauma 2025 in Munich, Germany, Hitachi Construction Machinery Europe (HCME) unveiled the LANDCROS One, a visionary excavator concept that redefines the future of construction machinery. This innovative design emphasizes enhanced user experience, sustainability, and advanced technological integration.

Innovative Design and User Experience

Developed in collaboration with Granstudio, an automotive and mobility design studio, the LANDCROS One introduces a “phygital” approach—seamlessly integrating physical controls with digital interfaces. This design aims to create an intuitive operator environment, appealing to the next-generation workforce through gamified ergonomics and AI-assisted interfaces.

Francesco Quaranta, President & CEO of HCME, stated, “Our intention is to be closer to our customers, delivering customized solutions that lead the transformation where the physical and digital worlds seamlessly merge, creating a new, exciting future.”

Versatile Operating Modes and Powertrain Options

The LANDCROS One is designed with versatility in mind, offering multiple operating modes to suit various job site requirements. Operators can switch between autonomous, remote, and traditional manual controls, enhancing flexibility and efficiency. Additionally, the concept accommodates three powertrain options: diesel, hybrid, and fully electric, allowing adaptation to different environmental regulations and sustainability goals.

Advanced Connectivity and Remote Operation

Equipped with state-of-the-art connectivity features, the LANDCROS One enables remote operation from virtually any location. This capability allows operators to and sustainability, HCME is poised to control machinery across multiple sites without physical relocation, maximizing equipment utilization and enhancing safety by removing operators from hazardous environments.

Sustainability and Environmental Considerations

In alignment with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions, the LANDCROS One’s adaptable powertrain options, including hybrid and electric configurations, support environmentally friendly operations. This flexibility allows construction companies to meet stringent environmental regulations while maintaining operational efficiency.

Industry Reception and Future Prospects

The unveiling of the LANDCROS One at bauma 2025 has garnered significant attention within the construction industry. Its forward-thinking design and integration of advanced technologies position it as a potential game-changer in construction machinery. While currently a concept, the demonstrated in the LANDCROS One are expected solutions.

In summary, the LANDCROS One exemplifies Hitachi Construction Machinery’s commitment to pioneering advancements in construction equipment. By focusing on user-centric design, versatile operations, and sustainability, HCME is poised to meet the evolving needs of the construction industry in the years to come.
