As it has also prolonged the flagship urban housing programme to December 31, 2024, the Union government has set aside an astounding amount of 85,406 crore to be released in stages. The plan, which tries to create incentives for affordable housing, has a March 2022 deadline. You may remember that the program’s original 2015 launch date was set for the completion of homes for all by 2022. The overall amount of central assistance approved since 2015 is 2.03 trillion, and up to the end of March 2022, 1.18 trillion of that sum has already been distributed. In response to demands from the states and union territories, the programme will be extended, and the extension help in the completion of already sanctioned houses, said official sources.
