The only native Android programmes that can access the PiP view of a Chrome custom tab are Google apps like Gmail, Chats, and others. Other apps that open links using the Chrome browser will soon be able to use the capability, although apps like Meta’s Instagram that have built-in browser functionality will not.
How it functions
- Get the most recent version of the Chrome browser.
- Click on any URL that opens in a native Android app, like Google Chats, or that is shared with you. because it still requires you to maximise the window in order to use it. Furthermore, links from the Google Messages app, although being a native Android app, did not give the new minimise button during feature testing.
On Chrome’s toolbar, tap the new downward arrow button that is adjacent to the back button. This makes the Chrome tab that is open in a PiP window smaller in the lower right corner of the screen. To maximise the Chrome tab, tap the window and choose the full screen option that displays in the centre.
The Chrome tab in PiP view can be resized and relocated anywhere on the screen, just like any other floating window. It should be noted, nevertheless, that the Chrome tab in PiP view just displays the page name and domain. This restricts the feature’s functionality.
