Godrej & Boyce commissions 220kV substation for reliable power in K’taka

The Power Infrastructure and Renewable Energy (PIRE) business unit of Godrej & Boyce Mfg has commissioned a 220/66/11kV grid substation in Sira, Tumakuru District, Karnataka.

The substation commissioned by Godrej & Boyce will connect Sira and its neighboring towns to the national-level power grid through 220 kV and 66 kV transmission lines, so as to obtain reliable and high-quality power with 200 MVA transformer capacity.

The substation will not only provide the necessary power to encourage Sira and the surrounding industrial landscape, otherwise the industry is in a new stage due to the lack of reliable electricity. With substations, reliable power guarantees will be solved by delivering power to emerging industrial facilities and data centers in the region.

Raghavendra Mirji, senior vice president and head of PIRE at Godrej Electricals & Electronics, said: “We hope to expand our business to such small towns in the state to improve the quality of power transmission in the future.”
