Nine national highway projects totaling 243 km in length and costing $1,357 crore have been opened by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in Rajasthan.
The projects include enlarging the Ninawa section from Sanchore on NH-168A in Rajasthan to boost the business of the granite industries of the Chalaur district, as well as a 4-lane flyover in Suratgarh city and two-lane Sriganganagar to Raisinghnagar projects.
A budget of Rs 5,000 crore was also announced for 25 additional bypasses in Rajasthan. Under the Setubandhan Yojana programme, a ROB on state highways has been allocated Rs. 200 crore.
The military installations on either side of the road will greatly strengthen India’s strategic position. He said that improved border connection for the armed forces will result in the creation of new jobs. To stop the gridlock at level crossings, roadways over bridges (or ROB) will be built.
