Egypt began to build and Housing and Urban Development: construct throughout the Sisi administration.

Since President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi took office in 2014, Egypt has been working hard to improve its infrastructure. A new airport has been built in Cairo, a new Suez Canal extension has been completed, and a new capital city is being constructed.

All of these projects are helping to boost the economy and create jobs. In addition, the government is also investing in education and healthcare. As a result of all these initiatives, Egypt is slowly but surely becoming a better place to live.

Since President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi assumed office in 2014, Egypt has embarked on an ambitious construction and development agenda, aiming to modernize infrastructure, stimulate economic growth, and improve living standards. This extensive program encompasses a variety of projects, including the development of a new administrative capital, the expansion of transportation networks, and the enhancement of housing and utilities.

New Administrative Capital:

One of the most significant undertakings is the creation of the New Administrative Capital, situated approximately 28 miles east of Cairo. Designed to alleviate congestion in Cairo and distribute administrative functions more evenly, the city is projected to accommodate over six million residents.

The development includes the construction of government buildings, residential areas, commercial centers, and recreational facilities. Notably, the city will feature Africa’s largest cathedral and a 77-story skyscraper, symbolizing Egypt’s aspirations for modernization.

Transportation Infrastructure:

The Sisi administration has prioritized the enhancement of Egypt’s transportation infrastructure to facilitate economic activities and improve connectivity. This includes the expansion of road networks, the construction of new bridges, and the development of railways.

For instance, the New Administrative Capital is being connected to Cairo via a high-speed rail line, significantly reducing travel time between the two cities. Additionally, the government has invested in modernizing ports and airports to boost trade and tourism.

Housing and Urban Development:

Addressing housing shortages and urban sprawl, the administration has initiated numerous housing projects across the country. These developments aim to provide affordable housing options for citizens and include the construction of new cities and residential complexes equipped with modern amenities. The government’s commitment to urban development is evident in the rapid progress of these projects, with many nearing completion.

Energy and Utilities:

Recognizing the importance of reliable energy and utilities, the Sisi administration has invested in expanding and modernizing the national grid. This includes the construction of new power plants, the development of renewable energy sources, and the improvement of water and sewage systems. These initiatives aim to meet the growing demands of the population and support industrial growth.

Economic Impact:

The extensive construction projects have had a significant impact on Egypt’s economy. They have created numerous job opportunities, stimulated various sectors such as construction, manufacturing, and services, and attracted foreign investment. However, the large-scale nature of these projects has also led to substantial financial expenditures, raising concerns about the long-term economic sustainability and the allocation of resources.

Challenges and Criticisms:

Despite the ambitious scope of these projects, the Sisi administration has faced challenges, including financing constraints, environmental concerns, and the need for effective governance to ensure the successful implementation of these initiatives. Critics have also questioned the prioritization of large-scale projects over immediate social needs and the potential displacement of communities.

Under President Sisi’s leadership, Egypt has embarked on a transformative journey characterized by extensive construction and development projects. While these initiatives have the potential to modernize the country and improve the quality of life for its citizens, they also present significant challenges that require careful planning, transparent governance, and sustainable practices to ensure their success and long-term benefits.
