DHL earmarks ₹4,000 cr for warehousing expansion

DHL Supply Chain is to invest 500 million Euros, or around Rs. 4,000 crore, in India to increase the size of its staff, warehousing capacity, and sustainability initiatives. To meet the needs of expanding industries like e-commerce, retail, consumer, manufacturing, and automotive, it will add 12 million square feet of warehousing space, bringing its total portfolio capacity to about 22 million square feet by 2026 in Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, the National Capital Region, and Pune.

Additionally, multi-client sites are being developed in tier-2 cities like Baddi, Cochin, Coimbatore, Guwahati, Sanand, Indore, Lucknow, Bhubaneshwar, Hosur, and Visakhapatnam, which are experiencing rapid growth. Additionally, it wants to convert its whole intra-city fleet to green transportation by 2025, and it wants to quadruple its Indian staff to about 25,000 workers by 2026.
