Construction begins on ₹2,000-cr mini-township in Kerala

In Vilappilsala, Kerala, the Thiruvananthapuram City Corporation has started building a 42-acre mini-township project. The project, which would cost an estimated 2,000 crore to complete, will comprise housing complexes, a conference centre, anganwadis, playgrounds, animal shelters, ponds, and gardens.

Construction of two of the five housing towers, which will house 500 families, will take up the majority of the first phase of the housing project. This phase will also see the completion of the approach road and retaining wall. The development of a convention centre with a seating capacity of 2,000 people, a training facility with residential amenities, guest homes and accommodation, and senior single-bedroom apartments with shared dining and activity rooms are among the latter phases.

Fish farming ponds, a health club, a sports hub, smaller playgrounds, stray animal shelters, and leisure spaces are among the other amenities of the little township. The building will incorporate rainwater harvesting and solar panel systems and will be built in harmony with the topography and surrounding environment. The project aims to improve the city’s infrastructure and facilities while providing Thiruvananthapuram residents with cheap, sustainable homes.
