Cabinet clears ₹2,798 cr Abu Road-Ambaji rail line

The 116 km long railway line connecting Abu Road, Ambaji, and Taranga Hill has received approval from the Union Cabinet. Anurag Thakur, a cabinet minister, announced that the 2,798 crore railway line would be opened in four years. It will contain 11 tunnels, over 60 road over and under bridges, 151 short bridges, and 54 long bridges. Ambaji and Taranga Hill in Gujarat are locations of religious relevance, while Abu Road is a popular tourist destination in Rajasthan. The project, which is scheduled to be finished by 2026–2027, will offer rail connectivity in the area, increase regional transportation, and speed up the movement of agricultural and local produce to surrounding markets.

The line will offer travellers visiting Mount Abu, Dilwara Jain Temple, Ambaji Temple, and Prajapati Brahmakumari Center an alternative route to the existing Ahmedabad-Abu Road railway line, as well as connecting significant religious centres with the railway’s main network and boosting religious tourism in Rajasthan and Gujarat.
