Cabinet clears ₹1,305 cr Dholera greenfield airport

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the construction of Phase I of a new greenfield airport in Dholera, Gujarat, for a cost of 1,305 crore and a 48-month completion time.

The Dholera International Airport Company Ltd would build the airport on 1,501 hectares of land made available for the purpose, according to Union Minister Anurag Thakur. The initial passenger flow is predicted to be three lakh per year, with a growth rate of 23 lakh over the next 20 years. From 2025 to 2026, yearly cargo volume is expected to be 20,000 tonnes, rising to 2.73 lakh tonnes during a 20-year period.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI), the Government of Gujarat (GoG), and the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust have formed the Dholera International Airport Company Limited (DIACL) (NICDIT). Dholera Airport will provide passenger and cargo service to the Dholera Special Investment Zone (DSIR) and is intended to become a major cargo hub for the industrial sector.
