The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the construction of a 4-lane access-controlled corridor from Patna to Sasaram in Bihar. The project, which will be developed on the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM), will have a total capital cost of ₹3,712.40 crore.
The greenfield corridor will reduce congestion and cater to densely built-up areas in areas like Arrah, Grahini, Piro, Bikramganj, Mokar, and Sasaram. The project will integrate with major transport corridors, providing seamless connectivity to Aurangabad, Kaimur, and Patna.
It will also provide connectivity to two airports, four major railway stations, and one Inland Water Terminal. The Patna-Arrah-Sasaram Corridor will play a pivotal role in regional economic growth, improving connectivity between Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, and Varanasi. The project aligns with the government’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The new corridor aims to alleviate this congestion by constructing a greenfield corridor and upgrading 10.6 km of existing brownfield highways.

The project also facilitates direct access to the Patna Ring Road, promoting faster movement of goods and passengers.
