BRO Initiates Phase III of India-China Border Roads Project

Border Roads Organization (BRO) and Central Public Works Department working together.

In order to improve the road network in eastern Ladakh, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), in partnership with the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and the National Projects Construction Corporation, has begun the third phase of the important India-China Border Roads (ICBR) project.

The majority of Phase II of the ICBR’s all-weather roads have been finished, while several important routes are still being built. These roads allow security troops to move along the Line of Actual Control more quickly. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently officially kicked off work on the 4.1-kilometer Shinku La tunnel, which will connect Manali with Leh and provide all-weather access. It is anticipated that this tunnel would greatly increase the military’s and their equipment’s mobility.
