BMRCL speeds up ₹14,788 cr airport metro line

With investments totaling 14,788 crore, BMRCL has accelerated the construction of the Kempegowda International Airport metro line. The land acquisition process is nearly finished, allowing the contractor to expedite construction of the 30 station, 5-7 km long track from Central Silk Board to the airport. Due to tree relocation, construction between Hebbal and KR Puram has been slightly delayed.

In the future, the Hebbal Station, which will serve as an interchange, may see as many as 60,897 commuters each day. KR Puram, another interchange station, is anticipated to receive 51,983 commuters, followed by Nagawara, 50,470, KIA Terminal, 30,647, Yelahanka, 24,013, and Kodigehalli, 20,288. The Shettigere Depot’s revised plan still calls for an additional area of 12,576.619 sq m, for which BMRCL is looking into other options. By December 2024, the airport line is anticipated to be completed.
