The Western Express Highway in Bandra (E) and Fishermen Colony on Senapati Bapat Marg in Mahim will be connected by a bridge that the Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) bridge department is building for a cost of 238 crore. By doing this, the Western Express Highway ((WEH), which connects Mumbai’s whole western suburbs up to Mira Road, will be less congested. The notorious WEH used to be known for providing relief from heavy traffic, but these days it is jammed practically constantly. Since the bridge will be built over Mithi Creek, all necessary clearances, including those from the mangrove cells, must be obtained before construction can begin. The project will be finished in two years.
