Amit Shah Launches ₹668 Cr Development Projects in Tripura

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over ₹668 crore in Dhalai, Tripura. Among the initiatives, the Central Detective Training Institute (CDTI) in Agartala stands out.

The Government of Tripura has allocated 9.57 acres in the Jirania sub-division for the institute, with ₹120 crore sanctioned by the Ministry of Home Affairs for its infrastructure. A digital survey of the site has already been completed.

On December 22, 2024, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various development projects totaling over ₹668 crore in Dhalai district, Tripura. The event, held at the Kulai RF Village Ground, was attended by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha and other senior officials.

Key Projects Inaugurated and Initiated

Among the significant projects inaugurated is the Central Detective Training Institute (CDTI) in Agartala. This institute aims to enhance the training infrastructure for law enforcement agencies in the region, equipping them with advanced investigative skills.

Additionally, Shah laid the foundation for seven new projects, further emphasizing the government’s commitment to the holistic development of Tripura. These projects span various sectors, including infrastructure, education, and community welfare, aiming to uplift the socio-economic status of the region.

Focus on the Bru Reang Community

A significant highlight of Shah’s visit was his interaction with the Bru Reang community at the Haduklau Para Bru Settlement Colony in Dhalai. He visited their homes, engaging directly with community members to understand their concerns and aspirations.

Shah underscored the government’s dedication to resolving the longstanding issues faced by the Bru Reang people, noting that previous administrations had overlooked their plight. He stated that the Modi government has successfully resettled 38,000 individuals from the community, who had endured challenging conditions for over 25 years, providing them with improved living standards and rights equivalent to other Indian citizens.

Achievements in Infrastructure and Social Development

Shah highlighted the transformative changes in Tripura’s infrastructure and social sectors under the current administration. He pointed out that access to drinking water has dramatically increased from a mere 2.5% during previous governments to 85% of households now having tap water connections. In the education sector, the dropout rate has significantly decreased to below 3%, with enrollment rates soaring from 67% to an impressive 99.5%. These improvements reflect the government’s focus on basic amenities and education as pillars of development.

Cultural Initiatives

In addition to infrastructure and social projects, Shah announced the construction of a grand temple dedicated to Maa Tripura Sundari. This initiative aims to enhance the cultural and spiritual landscape of the state, making it more accessible for devotees worldwide and promoting cultural tourism in the region.

Shah emphasized that the current government has restored peace in Tripura by signing agreements with various rebel groups and the Bru Reang community.
