The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has announced that it would lend $360 million for three projects involving Chennai’s metro lines. This is a big boost for the city’s infrastructure development. The ADB loan will be used for the construction of two new metro lines and the extension of an existing line. This is part of the ADB’s commitment to support India’s urban development. The loan is also part of the Chennai Metropolitan Development Project, which is a joint initiative of the ADB and the Government of India.

Three new metro lines in Chennai will be built thanks to a $350 million loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), which has been agreed upon by the Central Government of India. The loan is a portion of a $780 million multi-tranche finance instrument granted by ADB on December 8, 2022, for the Chennai Metro Rail Investment Project.
