ADB–JICA to fund 106.5 km long RRTS corridor

The 106.5 km Delhi – SNB (Shahjahanpur – Neemrana – Behror) Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) line in India has received approval for a loan application from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The second semi-high-speed rail line in Delhi-NCR will be built and its system purchased using this loan, which is an addition to the $457 million World Bank plan. The line will comprise stations at INA, Sarai Kale Khan, Munirka, Aerocity, Udyog Vihar, Gurugram Sector 17, Rajiv Chowk, Kherki Daula, Manesar, Panchgaon, Bilaspur, Dharuhera, MBIR, Rewari, Bawal, and Shahjahanpur – Neemrana – Behrod. It will have a design speed of 180 km/h and an operating speed (SNB).

It will eventually be extended 58 km to the south to Alwar and 35 km to Sotanala. Before requesting board permission, the ADB will carry out a fact-finding mission between March 13 and March 23, 2023, and attend a management review meeting (MRM). By 2024, the final board decision should be made, which needs to be approved by the central government.
