In Kolkata, PM Modi unveils connectivity projects valued at ₹15,400 Cr

In Kolkata today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened and placed the foundation stone for several connectivity initiatives. To improve urban mobility, these projects include the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) and Metro Rail extension.

The Prime Minister launched off train services and opened many metro sections, including the Esplanade – Howrah Maidan stretch, which is India’s first underwater metro route. Additionally, he placed the cornerstone for Phase 1 of the Pune Metro Rail project.

The goals of these programmes are to reduce traffic jams and offer convenient connectivity. The projects have special features like the nation’s deepest metro station and the first underwater transit tunnel in India. They will increase the National Capital Region’s (NCR) economic activity and improve access to historical tourism destinations.
